He is the person
Who is the backbone of our country
He is the person
Who feeds the entire nation
by growing food grains
by nurturing plants with his sweat
Waiting anxiously for rains
Looking at the dry, barren lands
and cloudless sky
To please rain god
He do whatever he can do
By performing varuna yagas
to arranging frog marriages
First drop of monsoon
Brings hopes into his life
After doing tilling,
procuring seeds a challenge for him
Stampede in long queues for seeds
may cost his life some times
Getting pesticides again a big task
After doing physical work day & night
Hoping for a good, big crop
Lush green crops raises his hopes
But just before harvesting
Rain god showers his curse
In the form of heavy rains
or wind god as powerful gales
Thrashing all his hopes
As well as his future
If nature co-operates
And getting a big harvest
Middlemen crashes his hopes
By lowering rates to subminimal levels
Made him sad & mad
To throw harvest on the roads
Or put fire to the crop
Cheated by many
From beurocrats to bankers
From loan lenders to middle men
From seeds to pesticides
Finally even by nature
Which he cannot withstand
Gave his life to nature
Mango orchard which was
Nurtured by him for several years
Gave solace to him
By providing support for his hanging
Pesticides may not serve
It’s purpose of killing pests
May help him take his life
Already farm land is shrinking
In addition crop holidays are there
Scarcity of good seeds
Rampant of fake seeds
Burden of heavy loans
All put together, breaks backbone of
Backbone of The Nation
If govt. does not awakens at this juncture
And take farmer friendly measures
The economy will be crumbled like cards
Under the burden of
Imports of food grains
This is the time to
“Save the farmer”, “Save the Nation”
