[A poem by Mr. Makineedi Surya Bhaskar titled ‘Do Not Slip.. Do Not Let Life Slip Away’.]
The little dawn breeze
does not carry mornings –
it carries the moments
life chooses
to awaken us gently.
When you make your first decision
when the mind dares to step forward –
the moment life first whispers
“Choose your own path,”
if you fall asleep right there
someone else will begin
writing your life.
So again –
do not slip back into sleep.
When you realize what you held
was only an illusion
and the courage to let go
comes searching for you –
if you abandon it and fall asleep
pure love will never
find its way to you.
So again –
do not slip back into sleep.
When love knocks at your door,
when someone understands you
more deeply than you ever imagined –
if you let that touch slip away
such truthful love
will not return.
So again –
do not slip back into sleep.
When you recognize your mistake
when you know you have deceived yourself –
if you fall asleep at that moment
falsehood will become
your lifelong pillow.
So again –
do not slip back into sleep.
When a fear that haunted you for years
begins to retreat in silence
when your strength first
meets your own eyes –
if you fall asleep there
you will remain a prisoner
all your life.
So again –
do not slip back into sleep.
When a new path
quietly spreads before you
when you release the habit of looking back
and feel the urge to move ahead –
if you fall asleep there
your destiny will become
another person’s footprint.
So again –
do not slip back into sleep.
When the outer world
speaks in lies
and your inner voice
prepares to speak the truth –
if you sleep without listening
you will never truly
reach yourself.
So again –
do not slip back into sleep.
When pain reaches its final edge
and comfort begins
when the last tear
turns into strength –
if you fall asleep there
you will never taste
the nectar of life.
So again –
do not slip back into sleep.
When silence is about to speak
when words withdraw
and stillness suddenly rises
like a mountain before you –
if you fail to listen
the deepest truth
will slip away.
So again –
do not slip back into sleep.
When you first recognize yourself clearly
when you whisper, “This is who I am” –
if you drift into sleep then
your entire life
will become a search.
So again –
do not slip back into sleep.
It is beside such moments
that life truly begins.
So again and again –
do not slip back into sleep.
Do not let your life
slip away.
