[A poem by Mr. Samudrala Harikrishna titled ‘Poets!’.]
Spare not this species,the Poets
The worldly-unwise Simpletons
All the life-less enamouring them
Hidden beauty ever beckoning them!
Revelling in talking to the Stars
Cajoling the silvery lunar Rays
Joining the beloved in the Crescent
The Easily pleased romantic Ignorants!
Making the world’s grief their Own
Pouring theirs on people Unknown
Gloom, the bards’ eternal Companion
Joy,a butterfly they run for,On and On!
They see oft what others fail to See
Yet, sad they lose their way in a Revery
Stuck in leafy Woods, lofty Spires Ever
Going gaga-oh, a River here, there a Flower!
Feet never on the ground, the poor Lot
Loath to face the Reality, Dream-fraught
Poets-chasing the nebulous, and Froth
World hasn’t much, aliens at own Hearth!
