Goddess Radha is the eternal consort of Lord Krishna in Go-loka.
Radha symbolises intense love for Lord Krishna.
Narada in his Bhakti sutras defined Bhakti as intense love for God सा त्वस्मिन् परमप्रेमरूपा (sutra 2).
Love so intense that forgetting God even for a fraction of a second causes unbearable pain. तद्विस्मरणे परमव्याकुलतेति (Narada Bhakti Sutra 19)
It is very rare to find people who possess such a devotion.
Our mind sometimes contemplates on God, but in the very next moment falls on worldly pleasures. Our mind is like a fly. A fly falls on holy prasad. In the next moment, it goes and falls on dirty things as well.
This is only part-time devotion.
But devotion should be continuous, it should be on God always. It should be like honeybee. A honeybee seeks honey in the flowers alone. It does not fall on things dirty. Our mind should also be like this – should be on God always and forgetting Him for even a fraction of a second causes unbearable pain.
Shastras exhort that our devotion should be continuous, like taila dharavat. If we take a container with oil and pour the oil in another container it goes in a continuous flow. It does not break. But if we pour water from one container to another container, it breaks in the middle.
Our devotion should be like taila-dhara. If we reverse the letters ra-dha, it becomes dha-ra. Dhara means continuous, without break.
Radha implies continuous devotion of Lord Krishna. Radha is devotion personified. Radha is Krishna prema-dhara.
