నేను ప్రదీప్ మడూరి. ప్రస్తుతం ఆస్ట్రేలియాలోని సిడ్నీలో నివసిస్తున్న ఫిల్మ్‌మేకర్, రచయిత మరియు పరిశోధకుడిని. నేను తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్రంలోని వరంగల్ జిల్లా వంగపహాడ్ గ్రామానికి చెందినవాడిని. నేను ఆస్ట్రేలియా రావడానికి ముందు కాకతీయ యూనివర్సిటీ, వరంగల్‌లో బ్యాచిలర్ డిగ్రీ పూర్తి చేశాను.
సినిమాపై నా ఆసక్తిని మరింతగా అభివృద్ధి చేసుకోవడానికి ఆస్ట్రేలియాలో సిడ్నీ ఫిల్మ్ స్కూల్‌లో డిప్లొమా ఇన్ స్క్రీన్ అండ్ మీడియా పూర్తి చేశాను. తరువాత University of Technology Sydney లో మీడియా ఆర్ట్స్ అండ్ ప్రొడక్షన్‌లో మాస్టర్స్ స్థాయిలో చదువుతూ, స్క్రీన్ రైటింగ్ మరియు డైరెక్షన్‌లో ప్రత్యేకత సాధించాను.
నా పరిశోధన విధానం ప్రాక్టీస్-లెడ్. అంటే సినిమా తయారీ ప్రక్రియనే ఒక పరిశోధన పద్ధతిగా ఉపయోగిస్తున్నాను. ఇంటర్వ్యూలు, డాక్యుమెంటేషన్ మరియు క్రియేటివ్ వర్క్ ద్వారా, తమ కలలను కొనసాగిస్తున్న వ్యక్తుల నిజమైన అనుభవాలను నమోదు చేస్తున్నాను. నేను చేస్తున్న Passion vs Profession ఇంటర్వ్యూ సిరీస్ ఈ ప్రయాణాలను ప్రతిబింబిస్తుంది.

Passion, Profession, and the Journey of Zero-Budget Filmmaking – Pradeep Maduri
I am Pradeep Maduri, a filmmaker, writer, and researcher currently based in Sydney, Australia. I come from Vangapahad village in Warangal, Telangana, India. I completed my Bachelor’s degree at Kakatiya University in Warangal before moving to Australia.
To further develop my interest in filmmaking, I completed a Diploma in Screen and Media at Sydney Film School in Australia. I then pursued advanced studies in Media Arts and Production at the University of Technology Sydney, specialising in screenwriting and directing at the Master’s level.
Currently, I am undertaking a Higher Degree Research at UTS. My research focuses on “Passion vs Profession: The Emotional and Financial Realities of Zero-Budget Filmmaking among Immigrant Creatives in Australia.” Through this, I explore how immigrant creatives balance their passion for storytelling with the realities of financial survival.
My research is practice-led, where filmmaking itself becomes a method of inquiry. Through interviews, documentation, and creative work, I capture real experiences of people who continue to pursue their creative dreams despite challenges. My Passion vs Profession interview series reflects these journeys.
One of the key areas I focus on is zero-budget filmmaking. For me, zero-budget does not mean the absence of money; it represents a system built on trust, collaboration, and shared vision. Meaningful cinema can be created even without financial backing if the intention and commitment are strong.
As part of my research and creative journey, I am currently working on a feature film titled The Book. It is a psychological drama exploring identity, loneliness, and inner conflicts. This project is being developed using a zero-budget collaborative model that involves students, actors, and independent creatives.
To support this project, I have started a crowdfunding campaign. For me, this is not just about raising funds, but about building a community around storytelling—where people can be part of the journey and contribute in their own way.
Through my work, I aim to create space for diverse voices, especially immigrant creatives, and to question traditional pathways in filmmaking. My journey continues to be about finding a balance between passion and profession.

మనుషులు, మనుషుల తత్వాలు; కొండలు, కోనలు; నదులు, సముద్రాలు; వినీలాకాశం, నిర్మలత్వం – ఇవన్నీ ఆయనకు ప్రేరణ కలిగించేవే. మానవజాతిని ఉన్నత స్థితికి కొనిపోవాలని, అత్యున్నత సాహితీ సంపదను, మనకందించిన, ప్రపంచ పరివ్యాప్తంగా ఉన్న కవులు, రచయితలందరికీ, మనమెంతో ఋణపడి ఉన్నామని అభిప్రాయపడతారు.
మానవజాతి చరితను క్లుప్తంగా క్రోడీకరించిన, స్వామి వివేకానంద, ఈ నాలుగు మాటలు, తననెంతో ప్రభావితం చేశాయని చెబుతారు:
“మనిషి అడుగు వేసినప్పుడు, ముందుకు పోయేది – మెదటి కంటే, అతని ఉదరమే (ఆకలి)! ఉదరాన్ని (ఆకలిని) దాటి, మానవజాతి ముందుకు అడుగు వెయ్యడానికి, యుగాలు పట్టవచ్చు.”
