The Lone Traveller

[A poem by Mani garu titled ‘The Lone Traveller’.]

O traveller!
The journey is through unlaid path!
No one knows, where does the path end!
Why do you want to embark this journey,
All alone, away from the herd??
Are you afraid that, you lose your Self in the crowd,
miss the mysteries of silence?.
But still, Isn’t it agonising, to tread the way all alone??
With no one, to guide,
to lend you the shoulder
to cry out your woes!
to share your frustration!
Why do you want to travel through this path
All alone??
The path is rocky, thorny!
Doesn’t it hurt you?
rivers, mountains,
Meadows, forests, deserts,
You meet on the way,
don’t they walk along and whisper their telltales?
The day is hot and scorching.
No shade to hide under.
The dancing colours of light, though bewitching
do they quench your thirst?
The night is enchanting with its quietness!
But, why it spears through your heart?
The sky is ruthlessly devoured by the dark clouds!!
Where from it drizzles?
You are drenched and shivering!
Don’t you look for a shelter?
The soil soaked in the showers,
fills the air, the incense of yearning!
O traveller! Let your pining heart,
be not broken with the incense!
Let yourself be not mired in the loose soil,
Not lost in this darkness of the night!
Hold yourself for a while
There comes the thunderous lightening,
shall it lit your path!
The dawn is going to break out soon!
May it blaze the way out for you,
Little breeze will hold your hand,
Make your mind Still and tranquil,
your journey blissful with the quietness of solitude!
