సెప్టెంబరు… 14 వ తేదీ… నా జీవితంలోనే అతి ముఖ్యమైన రోజు… అని చెప్పడం ఏ మాత్రం అతిశయోక్తి కాదు.
దానికి కారణం లేకపోలేదు… సుమారు 47 సంవత్సరాల క్రితం అదే రోజు… నేను… ఆంధ్రా బ్యాంకు ఉద్యోగంలో చేరాను. ఆ రోజే ప్రతి సంవత్సరం నేను ఓ పండుగలా జరుపుకుంటున్న రోజు.
ఈసారి మాత్రం ఆ రోజున, అంటే, ది. 14.09.2019 అదో రకమైన దిగులు, బాధ. ఎందుకంటే ఇటీవల కేంద్రప్రభుత్వం బ్యాంకుల విలీనంపై తీసుకున్న ఓ నిర్ణయం.
ది. 30.08.2019 న కేంద్ర ఆర్ధిక మంత్రి శ్రీమతి నిర్మలా సీతారామన్ చేసిన ప్రకటన మేరకు, ఆంధ్రా బ్యాంకు మరియు కార్పోరేషన్ బ్యాంకు, పెద్ద బ్యాంకైన యూనియన్ బ్యాంకుతో విలీనం కాబోతున్నాయి.
ది. 13.09.2019న జరిగిన బోర్డు మీటింగులో, ఆంధ్రా బ్యాంకు డైరక్టర్లు, ప్రతిపాదిత విలీనానికి ఆమోదం కూడా తెలియజేయడం జరిగింది.
ఈ విలీనం ద్వారా 14.59 లక్షల కోట్ల రూపాయల ఆస్తులతో, 9609 శాఖలతో, దేశంలోనే ఐదవ అతి పెద్ద ప్రభుత్వరంగ బ్యాంకుగా అవతరించబోతోంది యూనియన్ బ్యాంక్.
ఇక ఆంధ్రా బ్యాంకు విషయానికొస్తే, ఆంధ్ర ప్రదేశ్ రాష్ట్రం, కృష్ణా జిల్లా, మచిలీపట్నంలో స్వాతంత్ర్య సమరయోధుడు, డాక్టర్. బోగరాజు పట్టాభి సీతారామయ్య గారిచే స్థాపించబడిన బ్యాంకు ఆంధ్రా బ్యాంకు.
ది. 20.11.1923 న ఒక లక్ష రూపాయల పెయిడ్ అప్ క్యాపిటల్‍తో, ఒక మిలియన్ రూపాయల ఆథరైజ్డ్ క్యాపిటల్‍తో రిజిస్టర్ చేయబడింది ఆంధ్రా బ్యాంకు…
1956లో, భాషా ప్రయుక్త రాష్ట్రాలు ఏర్పడినప్పుడు, ఉమ్మడి ఆంధ్ర ప్రదేశ్ రాష్ట్రానికి హైదరాబాద్ ముఖ్య పట్టణమైంది. అప్పుడే ఆంధ్రా బ్యాంకు రిజిస్టర్డ్ ఆఫీసు మచిలీపట్నం నుండి హైదరాబాద్‍కు తరలించడం జరిగింది.
2011-12 సంవత్సరంలో త్రిపుర, హిమాచల్ ప్రదేశ్ రాష్ట్రాలలోకి ప్రవేశించింది ఆంధ్రా బ్యాంకు.
ప్రస్తుతం దేశంలోని 25 రాష్ట్రాలలో మరియు మూడు కేంద్ర పాలిత ప్రాంతాలలో కార్యకలాపాలు నిర్వహిస్తుంది ఆంధ్రా బ్యాంకు.
దాదాపు 96 సంవత్సరాల క్రితం, మచిలీపట్నంలో ఒక చిన్న శాఖతో మొదలై, ఇంతై, అంతై, వటుడింతైనట్లు, శరవేగంతో అభివృద్ధి చెందింది ఆంధ్రా బ్యాంకు…
ది. 31.03.2019 నాటికి 2885 శాఖలతో, 3.64 లక్షల కోట్ల రూపాయల ఆస్తులతో, 4,387.95 కోట్ల రూపాయల ఆపరేటింగ్ ప్రాఫిట్‍తో, 20,981 మందికి ఉద్యోగాల కల్పనతో, ఉజ్వలంగా విరాజిల్లుతోంది ఆంధ్రా బ్యాంకు…
అలాంటి ఆంధ్రా బ్యాంకుతో దాదాపు 47 సంవత్సరాల అఖండమైన అనుబంధం నాది. ఎందుకంటే ఇప్పటికీ నేను ఆంధ్రా బ్యాంకు నుండి నెల నెలా పెన్షన్ తీసుకుంటూనే వున్నాను.
కానీ, వచ్చే సెప్టెంబరు 14 నాటికి ఆంధ్రా బ్యాంకు కనబడకుండా పోబోతుంది. కనీసం పేరు కూడా వినబడకుండా పోబోతుంది. అది తలచుకుంటే, నా గుండె పిండినట్లవుతుంది. ఆ తలంపు రాగానే మనసు కకావికలవుతుంది. కళ్ళల్లో నీళ్ళు సుడులు తిరుగుతున్నాయి. ఏదో భరించలేని బాధ… తట్టుకోలేని దిగులు…
ఒక్కసారిగా నేను ఆంధ్రా బ్యాంకులో పని చేసిన రోజులు, అప్పటి అనుభవాలు, నా కళ్ళ ముందు సినిమా రీళ్ళలా కదిలిపోతున్నాయి.
సంతోషాలు… దుఃఖాలు…; సుఖాలు…, కష్టాలు…; ఆశలు…, నిరాశలు…; సన్మానాలు…, అవమానాలు…; అన్నింటిని చవిచూసిన నేను, వాటన్నింటినీ ఒక్కొక్కటిగా నెమరు వేసుకుంటున్నాను.

ఆంధ్రాబ్యాంకు లో ప్రాంతీయ అధికారి హోదా లో ఉద్యోగ విరమణ చేసిన తరువాత , తన కెంతో ఇష్టమైన రచనా వ్యాసంగాన్ని ఎంచుకొని , కథలు,నాటికలు,నవలలు వ్రాస్తూ ముందుకెళ్తున్నారు.

When children grow, they go away and may not be able to spend time with us. Similarly when parents pass away, we are emotionally shocked, but recover with time. India can’t have too many small banks – they have to be merged to become probably 4 or 5 for all India and this is inevitable. While I do share your feelings, it is inevitable.

1 st Feb, is extremely an auspicious day as it saw your first episode of your chequered career and cursus vitae that would unfold in the course… under the title ” Naa Jeevana Gamanamlo- part -1.
Your responsible concern for the privacy of the persons and the events associated with others…in changing the actual names with fictional ones is an excellent and respected tradition in writing one’s memoirs! Your honest declaration at the beginning itself is a great admission of the sanctity of privacy of others concerned.
14 September, in your second innings is the grand and gracious beginning which is a great day with you in your cherishable memories! like wise for many too , though dates, months and years may vary…
The beginning, evolution, development, expansion, growth and finally the painful merger of your mother Bank “Andhra Bank”along with another unfortunate Corporation Bank with Union Bank in 2019….your poignant feelings in the disappearance of your MOTHERLY Andhra Bank are natural and spontaneous to any employee who was with it in all circumstances …high and low…for more than three decades…
I think this saddening experience was felt by others too equally at the tragic merger and haunts too in times to come…
The establishment of A B in Machalipatnam about a century ago ie on November 20,in the year 1923 by Bhogaraju Pattabhi SeethaRamaih of INC , during the hey days of British Rule…. conjures up many things / mile stones in history… and they deepen the feelings of fateful estrangement more unbearable for those associated with it as employees or customers or beneficiaries…et al …is real visual and documented.
The sudden death of AB and CB or merger with UB when the capital of the Bank was in lakhs of crores, with presence in 25 states and two UTs,in addition to about five thousand crore rupees in profits is by any means a heart break or a death blow! to speak the least.!
Since the writer has about half a century of bonds, association, connections, relations, memories, living, working, and growth as a part and parcel of the AB , and the sudden and unwarranted merger with other bank … the TRAUMA is inexplicable in words …
We hope, the readers would be exposed to a wide range of events and activities you had in your second innings,along with your first innings ( birth, child hood, education) and your present innings ( post retirement)…

yes sambasiva siva garu I also faced same situation when Govt.asked VRS from all BSNL employees as I am also retired BSNL employee.
