1992 సంవత్సరం.
కాలచక్రం గిర్రున తిరుగుతూనే వుంది. ఒక రోజు సాయంత్రం ఐదు గంటలకు బ్యాంకు పని మీద బయటకు వెళ్దామనుకుని, టేబిల్ పైన వున్న ఫైల్స్ అన్నింటిని బీరువాలో సర్దుకుంటున్నాను. అంతలో ఇద్దరు స్టాఫ్ మెంబర్సు నా క్యాబిన్‍లోకి వచ్చారు. వారిని కూర్చోమని సైగ చేశాను.
“మీతో ఒక విషయం మాట్లాడాలి సార్!” ఇద్దరు అన్నారు ముక్త కంఠంతో…
“చెప్పండి!” అన్నాను.
“మరేం లేదు సార్! మన సబ్ మేనేజర్ గారితో కొంచెం ఇబ్బందిగా వుంది సార్!”
“ఇబ్బందా!! అదేంటి!!!”
“మాకేదైనా సందేహం కలిగినా, మరేదైనా సమస్య తలెత్తినా, సహాయం కోసం, సలహా కోసం వారి దగ్గరికెళ్తే, – ‘నో… నో… నో… మేనేజరు గారు ఉన్నప్పుడు నేను నిర్ణయాలు తీసుకోవడమా… ఇంకేమైనా ఉందా? తప్పమ్మా!!’ – అంటూ తప్పించుకుంటున్నారు సార్… ప్రతి చిన్నదానికి మీ దగ్గరకి వచ్చి, మీరు చేస్తున్న ముఖ్యమైన పనులకు ఆటంకం కలిగించలేము కదా సార్!” చెప్పారు ఒకరు.
“అలాగని చెప్పి, మీరు బ్యాంకు పని మీద బయటకెళ్ళినప్పుడు, మా సందేహ నివృత్తి కోసం, సహాయం కోసం, వారి దగ్గరికెళ్తే – ‘నో… నో… నో… మేనేజరు గారు లేనప్పుడు నేను నిర్ణయాలు తీసుకోవడమా… ఇంకేమైనా ఉందా? తప్పమ్మా!!’ – అంటూ తప్పించుకుంటున్నారు సార్!” చెప్పారు ఇంకొకరు.
“ఇటు మీరు బ్రాంచ్లో ఉన్నప్పుడు నిర్ణయాలు తీసుకోక, అటు మీరు బ్రాంచ్లో లేనప్పుడు నిర్ణయాలు తీసుకోక, మరెప్పుడు సార్, ఆయన నిర్ణయాలు తీసుకునేది?” అన్నారు ఒకరు కొంచెం కోపంగా.
“మేము చాలా రోజుల నుండి ఇలాంటి ఇబ్బందులు పడుతూనే ఉన్నాము. కానీ మీ దాకా తీసుకురాలేదు సార్! ఎందుకంటే, వారికి తెలిస్తే, మేమేదో ఆయనపై మీకు ఫిర్యాదు చేసినట్లు బాధపడతారు కదా సర్! అందుకని…! ఇప్పుడిక వారి గురించి మీ దృష్టికి తీసుకురాక తప్పలేదు సార్!” నింపాదిగా చెప్పారు ఇంకొకరు.
ఊహించని ఈ పరిస్థితిని తెలుసుకుని నిర్ఘాంతపోయాను. ‘సబ్ మేనేజర్లు ఇలా కూడా వుంటారా? ఎంత విచిత్రం! ఇంతకు ముందు నేను మేనేజర్‍గా పని చేసిన మహబూబాబాద్ బ్రాంచ్ సబ్ మేనేజర్ గారు కాని, నిడుబ్రోలు బ్రాంచ్ సబ్ మేనేజరు గారు కాని, అటు బ్రాంచ్ స్టాఫ్ మెంబర్స్‌కి, ఇటు నాకు ఎంతో సహాయకారులుగా వుండేవారు. మరి ఇక్కడి సబ్ మేనేజరు గారు ఇలా వుండడం ఏమిటి? అవును మరి! మనిషి మనిషికి పరిస్థితుల పట్ల వారి అవగాహనలో, ఆలోచనా ధోరణితో తేడా వుంటుంది అనేది నిజమే కదా!’ అనుకుంటూ ఆ ఆలోచనలకు ఫుల్‌స్టాఫ్ పెట్టిన నేను…
“ఆ! చూడండి!! మన సబ్ మేనేజరు గారు ఈ మధ్యనే తెనాలి రీజియన్‍కి బదిలీ కోసం హెడ్ ఆఫీసుకి అర్జీ పెట్టుకున్నారు. కొద్ది రోజుల్లో ఈ సంవత్సర సాధారణ బదిలీలు జరిగేటప్పుడు, వారికి తెనాలి రీజియన్‍కి తప్పక బదిలీ వస్తుంది… వారి స్థానంలో మరొకరు సబ్ మేనేజర్‍గా వస్తారు. అప్పటి వరకు ఓపిక పట్టండి… ఈ లోపు మీ విధుల నిర్వహణలో మీకు ఏ మాత్రం అసౌకర్యం కాని, ఇబ్బంది కాని కలిగితే సరాసరి నన్ను కలిసి నాతో మాట్లాడడానికి వెనుకాడకండి. నేనేమీ అనుకోను… సరేనా!” అంటూ వారిని సముదాయించాను.
“అలాగే సార్! మా ఇబ్బందిని అర్థం చేసుకుని సానుకూలంగా స్పందించినందుకు మీకు ధన్యవాదాలండీ!” అంటూ నిష్క్రమించారు వాళ్ళిద్దరూ.
అప్పుడు నేనూ, తేలికపడిన మనసుతో బయటికి నడిచాను.

మార్చి నెల దాటి ఏప్రిల్‍లోకి అడుగుపెట్టాం. మా బ్రాంచ్‍కి నిర్ధారించిన లక్ష్యాలన్నింటిని అందరి సమిష్టి కృషితో అధిగమించగలిగాం.
రోజులు గడుస్తున్నాయి. ఒక రోజు ఉదయం పదకొండు గంటలకు మా సబ్ మేనేజర్ గారు హడావిడిగా నా క్యాబిన్ లోకి ప్రవేశించి, తనను తెనాలి రీజియన్‍కి బదిలీ చేస్తూ ఉత్తర్వులు అందాయని చెప్పారు.
“చాలా సంతోషమండి.. కంగ్రాచ్యులేషన్స్! మొత్తానికి మీరు కోరుకున్నట్టే జరిగింది” అంటూ నా ఆనందాన్ని వ్యక్తపరిచాను.
“థాంక్సండీ!” అంటూ మిగతా సిబ్బందికి ఆ శుభవార్తను చెప్పేందుకు వెళ్ళారు సబ్ మేనేజర్ గారు.
అప్పుడే, నేను రాజమండ్రిలో ఆంధ్రా బ్యాంకు గ్రామీణాభివృద్ధి సంస్థలో డైరక్టరుగా పనిచేసే రోజుల్లో, రాజమండ్రిలోని ఆల్‌కాట్ గార్డెన్స్ బ్రాంచిలో అధికారిగా పనిచేసే శ్రీ టి. మోహనరావు గారు నా క్యాబిన్‍లోకి వచ్చారు. ఒక్కసారిగా ఆశ్చర్యపోయాను.
“హల్లో! మోహన్‍రావు గారు… మీరేంటి ఇక్కడ!!” అని అడిగాను.
“సార్! నాకు యమ్.యమ్.II గా ప్రమోషన్ వచ్చింది. తెలంగాణలో దూరపు బ్రాంచికి బదిలీ చేస్తున్నారని తెలిసింది. సరే! ఎటూ వెళ్ళాలి కాబట్టి, కరీంనగర్‍ బ్రాంచ్లో నాకు బాగా తెలిసిన మీరున్నారు కదా… అని… మీ బ్రాంచ్‍కి పోస్ట్ చేయమని రిక్వెస్ట్ చేశాను. వెంటనే నన్ను ఈ బ్రాంచికి పోస్ట్ చేశారు. అంతే! ఏ మాత్రం ఆలస్యం చేయకుండా ఇలా వచ్చేశాను సార్! ఈ రోజే మీ బ్రాంచిలో జాయిన్ అవుదామనుకుంటున్నాను సార్!” గుక్క తిప్పుకోకుండా చెప్పారు మోహన్‍రావు గారు.
“ముందుగా మీకు పదోన్నతి లభించినందుకు నా హృదయపూర్వక శుభాకాంక్షలు! మా బ్రాంచి తరఫున మీకు సుస్వాగతం! మీరనుకున్నట్లే ఈ రోజే జాయిన్ అవ్వండి! ఈ బ్రాంచిలో మీకు అన్ని విధాల బాగుంటుంది… మంచి జరుగుతుంది. ఆల్ ది బెస్ట్ టు యూ!” అని ఆప్యాయంగా చెప్పాను.
“థాంక్యూ సో మచ్ సర్!” అన్నారు మోహన్‍రావు గారు అంతే ఆప్యాయంగా.
అప్పుడే, …అటెండర్ మా ముందుంచిన కాఫీ కప్పులను ఖాళీ చేసి, ఇద్దరం బ్యాంకింగ్ హాల్లోకి నడిచాము. మా సిబ్బందికి మోహన్‍రావు గారిని పరిచయం చేసి, తనకు కేటాయించిన సీట్‍లో కూర్చోబెట్టి… మరోసారి… ‘ఆల్ ది బెస్ట్…’ చెప్పాను. సిబ్బంది అందరూ కూడా ఆల్ ది బెస్ట్ చెప్పారు మోహన్‍రావు గారికి.
నాతో పాటే మా సబ్ మేనేజర్ గారు కూడా నా క్యాబిన్ లోకి వచ్చారు. కూర్చోమంటూ కుర్చీ చూపించాను.
“సార్! ఎటూ నా ప్లేస్‍లో మోహన్‍రావు గారు వచ్చి జాయిన్ అయ్యారు కదా సార్! ఈ రోజు సాయంత్రం మీరు నన్ను రిలీవ్ చేస్తే, రేపే తెనాలి వెళ్ళి రీజినల్ మేనేజర్ గారిని కలిసి, నాకు కావలసిన బ్రాంచ్‍కి పోస్టింగు కోసం రిక్వెస్టు చేస్తాను సార్! లేటయితే… నేను కావాలకున్న బ్రాంచిలో వేరే వారిని పోస్టు చేస్తారేమో సార్! ఈ రోజే రిలీవ్ చెయ్యండి సార్!” ప్రాధేయపూర్వకంగా అడిగారు సబ్ మేనేజర్ గారు.
“అలాగేనండి! ఈ రోజు సాయంత్రమే రిలీవ్ అవుదురు గాని… సంతోషమేనా…!” అడిగాను.
“థాంక్యూ వెరీమచ్ సర్!” అని చెప్పి ఆనందాతిశయంతో తన సీటు వైపు వడివడిగా నడిచారు సబ్ మేనేజర్ గారు.

It is very difficult to manage a branch To my knowledge there will be many types of problems the Br head has to
Pass through
1. Maintaining cordial relations with all the staff both award staff officers and especially when there are two different unions
2 Satisfying the ego of Sub manager
3 Expectations of the Custoners and proper understanding their issues and requirements
4. Achieving the br targets .Generally the staff feels that it is the responsibility of BM only .Here lies the tact and mingle ness of BM to make all the staff responsible for br development .
5 Ensuing efficient customer service
6 Good Credit
7 Recovery abd follow up of NPA accounts
8. Proper house keeping and avoid a bug audit report
All these culminate into either a success or failure If success the staff feel that it is because of them Failure is attributed to BM
Hope u might have experienced all these in ur journey and still u have cone out with flying colours focusing on development
